Identity

The Hellenic Association of Consulting Firms (HELLASCO) is a non-profit organisation representing consulting firms based in Greece, which are mainly involved in the provision of services for engineering or infrastructure projects in Greece and/or abroad.

HELLASCOʼs member firms cover the entire range of consulting services (designs, consultant services, etc) in every engineering sector. Moreover, all member firms have agreed to the Associationʼs Code of Conduct.

HELLASCOʼs Board of Directors, which consists of nine full and two associate members, is elected every two years, is mainly responsible for the administration and promotion of business matters that concern its members.

HELLASCOʼs past BoD Presidents were Mr Yiannis Stavrakas (1982-1985), Mr Vassilios Vavaroutas (1986-87), Mr Grigorios Drettas (1988-1991, and 1996-97), Mr Dimitrios Fessas (1992-1993), Mr Constantinos Tzanos (1994-1995), Mr Panayiotis Panagopoulos (1998-2001), Mr Charalambos Mylonas (2002-2003), Mr Panayiotis Antonaropoulos (2004-2007) and Mr Petros Petrakopoulos (2008-2011). Present BoD President is Mr Andreas Loukatos.

The General Assembly Meeting, which is called at least every December, is the governing body of the Association.

The Association has the following goals:

  • to safeguard and entrench the professional rights of its members 
  • to continuously improve the conditions of business practice for its members
  • to continuously develop and expand the activities of its members
  • to encourage collaboration among its members 
  • to promote the Work of its members to the public 
  • to enhance the scientific stature of its members

To effect the above goals, the Association takes all necessary legal measures in any case, and takes the actions required to promote them. More specifically:

a) collaborates with competent bodies in forming and developing the institutional framework that governs the activities of its members in Greece

b) collaborates with national and international awarding bodies to promote the professional goals of its members

c) seeks, by every available means, the appropriate application of the effective institutional framework by awarding bodies to its members

d) makes representations, proposals, and announcements to competent Greek or European Union Authorities, or other international bodies, to promote and effect the goals of the Association

e) appeals to Justice to protect the interests of its members, either independently or in assistance to legal actions of its members

f) negotiates and signs collective agreements regarding its members

g) participates in relevant international organizations and their activities

h) undertakes on its own, or in collaboration with other bodies, surveys and studies regarding the consulting and services sector, to promote its goals

i) participates in Greek or international projects that support the development of its members, or the Association itself

j) organizes and participates in events and conferences in order to promote the Association goals

k) informs its members on national and international trends regarding professional practice

l) organizes and participates in educational seminars regarding its goals

m) publishes periodicals, books and other documents, regarding its goals and activities

n) collects and presents, or publishes, data and information on its members and their activities

o) issues, or takes part in issuing, quality certificates to its members

p) issues certificates to its members regarding information at its disposal.

The international aspect of its goals is realized in collaboration with the European Federation of Engineering Consultancy Associations (EFCA) and the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC).
